2023 RAG Red Blend
A fun bright blend mostly out of Barmera, this blend of Syrah/Viognier with a dash of Mataro shows spice, bright forest fruits and a touch of apricot blossom. The Mataro adds another layer of dark christmas spice to the fine silky tannin profile - this red can also be chilled and enjoyed on the warm days in the sun.
Syrah, Viognier, Mataro
11.8%
A 7 day ferment with around 13% of the skins from lightly pressed Viognier. Fermented in stainless steel open fermenters, pressed off lightly to a mix of used French oak hogsheads and 2000l old french oak foudre. 9 months elevage before racking to tank for another month to relax. A small addition of an early picked parcel of Mataro from northern Barossa before it is bottled. A small amount of sulfur added just before bottling. The block of Syrah and Viognier are just outside of Barmera. The Mataro off a northern block of Barossa, Ebenezer.
RAG - Ralph Allen Graham - to my late father, thought provoking and hard working, he would have enjoyed this booze from a region he grew up in. Love, Dan.
Style: medium light bodied dry red wine.
Vineyard: Barmera/Barossa Valley, SA.
Best with: Mortadella and rocket sandwich on fresh Focaccia.
Drink: now and up to 5 years.
