2023 Syrah
A sophisticated expression of Syrah showcasing vibrant blackberries, wild herbs, and exotic spices, with subtle notes of spice and cedar from the French oak providing elegant structure. This vintage represents a refined, medium-bodied style of Barossa Syrah that emphasises freshness and balance. The concentrated dark fruit carries beautifully onto the palate, framed by fine-grained tannins that unfold gracefully with time in the glass. Shows remarkable depth while maintaining energy and precision...
Syrah (100%)
13.6%
Fermented over 16 days with 10% whole bunches and a small co-fermentation. The fruit was split between 1000L oak vats and stainless steel fermenters, then pressed to a combination of seasoned French oak hogsheads and 25% new French oak from carefully selected central French forests, using light toast to preserve fruit purity. Total elevage was 16 months before bottling with minimal sulfur addition.
The primary Syrah block sits just outside Williamstown, under organic management since 2014. Additional fruit comes from the Hoffman family vineyards in Ebenezer, grown on red loam and clay soils. The Vine Vale portion, from 60-year-old vines, contributes exceptional depth and concentration to the final blend.
